Full Time Fundraising & Events Coordinator

Position Summary

The Fundraising & Events Coordinator will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising activities, donor engagement opportunities, and community events. This role is ideal for a creative, organized individual who enjoys bringing people together, building relationships, and making a meaningful impact. Working closely with leadership, staff, and volunteers, you will ensure fundraising initiatives run smoothly, align with organizational priorities, and reflect our mission and values.

Location

Hybrid (Work-from-home with occasional in-person meetings and events in La Crosse & surrounding counties)

Employment Type

Full-Time (approx. 30–35 hours/week; flexible scheduling with increased hours during peak event periods)

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate fundraising events, donor gatherings, and community engagement activities
  • Develop event timelines, task lists, vendor coordination needs, and volunteer assignments
  • Support donor relations, including invitations, outreach, stewardship, and thank-you communications
  • Recruit, coordinate, and support volunteers assisting with event activities
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure event messaging aligns with organizational mission
  • Track fundraising revenue and engagement outcomes to help evaluate event success
  • Assist in developing creative new fundraising ideas and community partnership opportunities
  • Contribute to social media and basic promotional materials related to events (optional depending on skill set)

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience in fundraising, event coordination, hospitality, volunteer coordination, or related roles (professional or volunteer)
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to draft professional emails, donor communications, social media content, and event-related materials
  • Comfort working in flexible and shifting environments
  • Alignment with the values of compassion, dignity, and recovery-focused support

Preferred:

  • Experience with donor engagement or fundraising campaigns
  • Familiarity with event management/scheduling tools (Google Workspace, Outlook, SignUpGenius, etc.)
  • Comfort creating event flyers and social media posts in Canva (or willingness to learn)
  • Experience working or volunteering in nonprofits, mental health, public health, or recovery-focused settings

$27–$32/hour, based on experience

PART TIME PEER

As a Peer, you will be in a position to use your lived experience to serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to recovering individuals in order to promote long-term recovery. The work we do at Next Steps for Change is meaningful and time-sensitive. Employees are expected to treat this role as a professional commitment, showing up with consistency, responsiveness, and accountability. While employees may have other work commitments, this role must be honored and not treated as optional.

Average Hours: varies – dependent on referrals and availability

Responsibilities:

  • Assist recovering people to identify their personal interests, goals, strengths, and weaknesses regarding recovery
  • Establish supportive relationships with Participants to promote recovery
  • Partner with Participants to engage and support them in connecting with resources and services, and promote wellness through sharing of lived experiences
  • Assist Participants in understanding the purpose of Peer Support and the recovery process
  • Intentionally share own recovery story as appropriate to assist Participants and care teams in understanding multiple pathways in recovery
  • Work with Participants to facilitate change in patterns and behaviors
  • Work with Participants and care teams to create an environment of respect for Participants which honors individual choice
  • Mutually establish acceptable boundaries with Participants and care team members
  • Support Participants in connecting to services and resources and explore options that may be beneficial to returning to emotional and physical wellness
  • Encourage and assist Participants to construct their own recovery and wellness plans, which may also include proactive crisis and/or relapse prevention plans
  • Provide culturally sensitive and age-appropriate services
  • Encourage Participants to focus on their strengths, natural supports, develop their own recovery goals, and strengthen their valued roles within the community
  • Working knowledge and relationships with local service providers and resources
  • Knowledge and skill to teach and engage in basic problem-solving strategies to support individual Participants in self-directed recovery
  • Attend regular staff meetings, trainings, monthly supervision with the Peer Manager, and other meetings as requested
  • Work with Operations Coordinator and Peer Manager to collect program data and relay information
  • Respond to texts/emails/calls from Peer Manager as soon as possible, but no later than 24 hours regarding referrals
  • Check email a minimum of every 48 hours and respond if needed
  • Record Participant interaction in REX within 48 hours of interaction
  • Understand and demonstrate knowledge of HIPAA
  • Collaborate on efforts related to organizational change to promote trauma informed care and recovery orientation
  • Obtain necessary paperwork from Participants and upload into REX within 48hrs
  • Notify the Peer Manager or Executive Director if you will be unavailable to Participants or out of town for more than 24 hours
  • If you are unable to work for any reason, please communicate that with the Peer Manager
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must hold a current, Certified Peer Support Specialist certificate from the State of Wisconsin OR a Recovery Coach Certificate
  • Current valid driver’s license
  • Consistent access to an insured, reliable vehicle
  • Self declaration of recovery of 1 year or more
  • Ability to use a computer for data entry

Pay Range: $17.00 – $21.00 per hour
